WakeMed Named to Newsweek's 2026 List of America's Best Hospitals for Specialized Care

WakeMed among the leading U.S. hospitals for cardiac, GI and orthopedic care

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 4, 2026) – WakeMed has been named one of America's Best Hospitals for Specialized Care by Newsweek, earning national recognition for excellence in cardiac care, gastrointestinal care, and orthopedic care.

The 2026 Newsweek rankings, announced in partnership with Statista, recognize leading U.S. hospitals that offer patients trusted guidance when facing complex diagnoses across seven key specialties.

WakeMed Raleigh Campus earned top honors for delivering exceptional cardiac care and gastrointestinal care. WakeMed Cary Hospital was recognized as a top hospital for orthopedic care.

1,375 hospitals were awarded for world-class clinical outcomes based on methodology including expanded safety and quality indicators, including data from The Leapfrog Group, peer evaluations, accreditations and CMS measures. Learn more about the full methodology. 

WakeMed North Hospital’s data was incorporated into tabulations with WakeMed Raleigh Campus because the two facilities operate under the same CMS license.
