RALEIGH, N.C. (December 19, 2025) – WakeMed Cary Hospital has been named one of the nation’s top hospitals by Forbes. Forbes recently released its inaugural Top Hospitals List & Ratings, a resource for patients to find hospitals that provide high-quality, high-value medical services and care based on credible, independently validated quality measures, patient experience, and outcome-driven data.

Of the more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals eligible for consideration, only 30% of hospitals received a 4 or 5-star ranking to earn designation as a Top Hospital. WakeMed Cary Hospital received a 5-star ranking — one of only 253 hospitals in the nation to achieve a top overall score.

“Only 10% of general acute care hospitals earned 5 stars, and WakeMed Cary Hospital stood out as a multicategory leader,” said Doug Trocinski, MD, chief medical officer, WakeMed Cary Hospital. “This designation is a testament to our multidisciplinary team’s approach and dedication to quality care, patient safety, operational efficiencies and our patients’ satisfaction.”

To create the ranking and methodology, Forbes partnered with healthcare measurement experts, including an advisory panel, and Inovalon, a leading provider of data and solutions. 56 quality measures based on CMS data across four categories (patient outcomes, hospital best practices, value, and patient experience) were used to determine each hospital’s overall rating.
