WakeMed and Recora Expand Access to Cardiac Rehabilitation Virtual Care
October 2, 2025RALEIGH, N.C. (October 2, 2025) – WakeMed has collaborated with Recora to introduce a new virtual cardiac rehabilitation program designed to meet patients where they are – in their homes and on their schedules. By leveraging Recora’s technology-enabled platform, WakeMed aims to improve access to life-saving cardiac care and provide patients with a more convenient, flexible way to recover from heart events and build long-term heart health.
Through this collaboration, WakeMed will offer patients a virtual cardiac rehabilitation experience powered by Recora’s digital platform. The program combines live guided sessions, interactive heart health education, stress management resources, and tailored diet and nutrition plans to support patients recovering from cardiac events or procedures. This virtual option will complement WakeMed’s in-person cardiac rehab services, expanding access to care for patients who may face barriers related to transportation, mobility or scheduling.
“Our virtual cardiac rehab program allows us to reach beyond our campuses and into the homes of patients across our community,” said Cathy Smith, executive director of Rehab Services at WakeMed. “This approach helps us break down barriers, expand access and improve long-term heart health.”
The virtual cardiac rehabilitation program launched in September 2025, serving patients across the state of North Carolina.
“We are honored to collaborate with WakeMed to bring virtual cardiac rehabilitation to more patients across North Carolina,” said Abhishek Chandra, CEO of Recora. “Our shared goal is to empower individuals with the tools and support they need to take charge of their heart health and recovery – wherever they are.”
