NC DHHS Certifies WakeMed’s Healthplex in Fuquay-Varina
July 31, 2025RALEIGH, N.C. (July 31, 2025) – WakeMed officially received the certificate of need (CON) to build the health system’s newest healthplex in Fuquay-Varina. The Fuquay-Varina Healthplex will be home to WakeMed’s fifth healthplex and ninth full-service emergency department.
The 25,000 square-foot facility—WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Healthplex—will offer a 24/7 emergency department with 12 treatment rooms alongside diagnostic imaging and lab and pharmacy services. An estimated 9,300 patients are expected to receive treatment in the WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Emergency Department during its first year.

WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Healthplex will be located on N. Main Street, adjacent to the existing WakeMed Fuquay-Varina Medical Park. Construction is slated to begin in early 2026.
