Biography

Dr. John Whelan is a board certified internal medicine physician with clinical interests in diabetes, heart disease and preventive medicine.

Dr. Whelan has spent decades helping patients manage their health in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics in the US Air Force, Duke Health System and Durham VA. He has received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for diabetes care and heart/stroke care.

Dr. Whelan believes in helping patients achieve their personal health goals through lifestyle change. Additionally, he incorporates the latest evidence-based treatment guidelines into his practice.
