Dr. Jennifer Phifer is board certified in family medicine with medical interests in procedures, public health and prevention. She joins WakeMed Primary Care after managing WakeMed’s employee health practice, serving the primary care and acute health care needs of WakeMed’s more than 8,000 employees. She previously was lead health care provider at Southern Wake Family Medicine in Fuquay-Varina and attending physician at Benson Area Medical Center with hospital privileges at WakeMed. She received her medical degree from Saint Matthews University School of Medicine, Grand Cayman, British West Indies, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Spelman College in Atlanta. She also studied basic sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. She completed her internship and residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine Coastal AHEC. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, National Medical Association and North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians - Health Disparities Committee.
