This was a very difficult appointment for me and I was frustrated with my treatment and course of action up to this point. Meeting with Dr. McCarthy turned my situation around and I felt so much better. She made me feel protected and safe and cared for. She was eager to help me as soon as possible and was able to follow through on that. She took time to listen and relate to me and I’m so grateful to have met with her during one of the worst things I’ve experienced.

I was impressed by my entire experience at WakeMed Obstetrics & Gynecology in Cary. The front desk employee was extremely friendly and welcoming, and checked me in and answered all my questions. My appointment was at 1:00 PM and I believe by 1:02 I was being led back to my exam room. This was my first appointment with Dr. Diane Spahlinger McCarthy and I walked away very impressed. She took the time to get to know me (on a personal and medical level) and answered all of my questions around my medical concerns and priorities. She did not make me feel rushed, and I actually got the feeling that she wanted to be there in the room with me. We came up with next steps together, and I felt like it was a collaborative discussion. I would recommend Dr. Diane Spahlinger McCarthy is anyone!

Dr. McCarthy has been my OBGYN for the past few years now. She was my OB throughout my first pregnancy and birth of my beautiful [ ] daughter. She’s is extremely personable and really puts you at ease. Speaking with her is like spending time with a close friend who also happens to be a medical professional. I cannot speak highly enough about her level of care, expertise and personal attention. Whatever you’re paying this woman- it’s not enough!

The doctor performing and explaining the ultrasound went slow during his exam and walked me through it. He cared about my comfort in a way most people using a speculum do not. I have never had anyone offer to put the speculum in slowly, which is kind of insane if you think about it. Thanks for this basic thoughtful move.

Dr. Spahlinger McCarthy was outstanding--she listened carefully and thoughtfully and made me feel as if she had all the time in the world (which I clearly know she did not!). I also felt like a valued person; as an older woman, I have often felt dismissed or rushed by other doctors. However, Dr. Spahlinger McCarthy did not make me feel that I was any less valuable because I was not having a baby.
