Bill Lagarde, MD, FAAP

Dr. Lagarde serves as the executive medical director for WakeMed Physician Practices Specialty Medicine and the medical director for the WakeMed Clinical Research Institute. He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, and completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). Dr. Lagarde went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at UNC-CH and was an assistant professor of pediatrics at UNC-CH from 2004 to 2007. He came to WakeMed Children’s in 2007 to establish the division of Pediatric Endocrinology and served as the Director of Pediatric Endocrinology from 2007 to 2019. He also served as the medical director of Pediatric Subspecialties from 2016 to 2019 and in this role was instrumental in forming multiple subspecialty divisions at WakeMed Children’s.

He currently holds an adjunct appointment as assistant professor of pediatrics at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a consulting appointment at Duke Children's, and he serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatric Medicine at Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified in both pediatric endocrinology and general pediatrics.

Dr. Lagarde is married and has three children. He enjoys exercising, boating and fishing, and he has multiple hobbies. He loves time with his family at home and on the water.
