RALEIGH, N.C. (September 11, 2023) – WakeMed has signed a contract with United Healthcare (UHC) Community Plan, which is UHC’s local Medicaid managed care plan providing coverage to children, pregnant women, families, and adults.

The new contract brings WakeMed hospitals, emergency departments, outpatient clinics, and physician practices that participate in Medicaid in-network with UHC Community Plan, retroactive to July 1, 2023.

This agreement means WakeMed is now in-network with four of the five Medicaid managed care plans available in Wake County:

  • Amerihealth Caritas
  • Carolina Complete Health
  • WellCare Health Plans, Inc.
  • United Healthcare (UHC) Community Plan

WakeMed is already able to obtain in-network authorizations and other approvals required for scheduling and patient care for UHC Community Plan members.
