WakeMed Named High Performing by U.S. News & World Report

RALEIGH, N.C. (August 1, 2023) – WakeMed achieved high performance ratings in seven key categories for U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 list of Best Hospitals: Procedures & Conditions.
For the 2023-2024 rankings and ratings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 21 benchmark procedures and conditions.
The WakeMed system earned high performing ratings—the highest award designation a hospital can earn—in recognition of care that was significantly better than the national average, as measured by factors such as patient outcomes.

WakeMed Raleigh Campus and WakeMed North Hospital ranked as ‘High Performing’ in seven procedures and conditions (the Raleigh Campus evaluation also includes data from WakeMed North Hospital), including:
- Aortic Valve Surgery
- Diabetes
- Heart Attack
- Heart Bypass Surgery
- Heart Failure
- Stroke
- Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy)
WakeMed Cary Hospital was rated as ‘High Performing’ for the following procedures and conditions:
- Heart failure
- Stroke
- Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy)
The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.
The U.S. News Procedures & Conditions methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality such as survival rates, patient experience, and how successfully each hospital helps patients get back home.
