WakeMed Health & Hospitals Named High Performing by U.S. News & World Report

RALEIGH, N.C. (July 26, 2022) – WakeMed Health & Hospitals achieved high performance ratings in 11 specialties and procedures, the highest award designation a hospital can earn for U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions.
WakeMed Raleigh Campus and WakeMed Cary Hospital earned high performing ratings across a range of specialties, in recognition of care that was significantly better than the national average, as measured by factors such as patient outcomes.

WakeMed Raleigh Campus ranked as ‘High Performing’ for the following procedures and conditions:
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
- Aortic valve surgery
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Diabetes
- Heart attack
- Heart bypass surgery
- Heart failure
- Hip fracture
- Stroke
- Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
WakeMed Cary Hospital was rated as ‘High Performing’ for the following procedures and conditions:
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Heart failure
- Kidney Failure
- Stroke
The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.
