The WakeMed Back & Spine Center offers comprehensive and interdisciplinary care to patients suffering from chronic and acute back, neck and spine conditions. To deliver the highest level of care available, we partner with a variety of specialists to assess, manage and provide both surgical and non-surgical treatment options, all designed to get you back on the road to recovery and pain-free living.

Results of your assessment are immediately available to you, including recommendations for next steps. You will also have an opportunity to connect directly to our Spine Nurse Navigator to discuss results and develop a care pathway based on your results.

What to Expect

At the center of our comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach is a Spine Nurse Navigator who will guide you along every step of the way, coordinating your care, referrals, and addressing any concerns or questions you have. Our goal is to facilitate a seamless and coordinated process that keeps you and your health goals at the center of care.

After an initial consultation with our Spine Nurse Navigator, all patients go through a comprehensive assessment from a dedicated physiatrist (physical rehabilitation physician). This thorough clinical evaluation takes place at our dedicated Back & Spine Center, located on the WakeMed Raleigh Campus.

The initial evaluation may include diagnostic imaging studies (X-Rays, MRIs, etc.) and immediate pain management intervention. The results of your assessment may also include referral to one or more of the following therapies and specialists:

• Orthopaedic Consultation
• Neurosurgery Consultation
• Interventional Pain Management
• Chronic Pain Management
• Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation
• Acupuncture
• Dry Needling
