How you can help

WakeMed welcomes your help in keeping patients and their families as comfortable as possible during their hospitalization. These items are used to make a patient stay less stressful and more comforting. Thank you for your support of adult and pediatric patients.

Considerations Before Donating

Donation Drop Offs:

Donations can be delivered to Volunteer Services Monday - Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.

Considerations Before Donating

  • All donations should be approved and pre-arranged.

Donation Guidelines

  • Nothing used (everything must be BRAND NEW with tags or in original packaging)
  • No religious items or messaging
  • No food or drink
  • Donations may not be distributed directly to patients and families due to patient privacy and infection and prevention policies. Child Life staff will distribute items to patients and families on donor's behalf.
  • No business cards or solicitation of business with donations

  • Anything used (stuffed animals, toys, blankets, books, etc.)
  • Oversized items (doll houses, tents, stand-up basketball goals, etc.)
  • Beanie Babies
  • Individual or opened packs of sports cards or Pokémon cards
  • Handmade cards
  • Ride on toys (bikes, scooters, etc.)
  • Religious items (Bibles, journals, picture books, etc.)
  • Toy weapons (NERF guns, play swords, bows and arrows, etc.)
  • Items with a smoke-odor, other odor, or pet dander

No, children’s donations can only be accepted at WakeMed Raleigh Campus

No, but Child Life staff will deliver on your behalf.

Although a thoughtful gesture, please do not wrap donated items as they cannot be identified by our Child Life team members.

Please reach out to the WakeMed Foundation for any financial/monetary donations and specify that you would like it to go directly to Child Life services.
