Shoulder

The shoulder joint is a ball and socket joint enabling a huge range of motion. Because so many structures make up the shoulder, it is vulnerable to many different causes of pain, including injury, overuse and arthritis. Since damage to the shoulder joint can cause pain and weakness, shoulder surgery may be recommended as a next step if conservative treatment options no longer provide relief.

At Wake Orthopaedics, our team of board-certified, fellowship-trained shoulder surgeons use the latest technology and minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain and shorten recovery. Depending on your shoulder injury, our shoulder specialists will determine which treatment option is right for you.

We Treat a Range of Shoulder Conditions

From common to complex disorders and injuries, we have the skills and expertise to treat a range of shoulder conditions, including:

  • Proximal humerus, clavicle and scapular fractures
  • Sprains
  • Bursitis
  • Rotator cuff tendonitis
  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Labral tears (SLAP tear)
  • Shoulder dislocation and instability
  • AC joint separation
  • Shoulder arthritis
  • Biceps tendon tear

If you have frequent shoulder issues, like dislocations, you may be a candidate for a shoulder replacement surgery. Having an unstable shoulder can cause a range of mobility problems that result in painful arm movements or even stiff shoulders and arms in general.
