Cary Medical District

We'd like to celebrate the completion of the new 5 West Surgery Floor at WakeMed Cary Hospital. This ambitious project has vastly expanded our existing space.

Some major highlights include:

• 102,000 additional square feet added
• 40 patient rooms on 5 West; 4 West to be used for patient care and support services
• Floor layouts and patient rooms designed based on input from physicians, nurses, support care team members and patients/families
• Larger patient rooms with finishes that create a warm and inviting ambiance
• Floor to ceiling windows that offer more natural light
• Upgraded bathrooms/showers with a modern design
• Dedicated family area within the patient rooms with flexible furniture for sleeping or sitting along with a separate TV for family members/significant others
• Enhanced patient safety features and modern conveniences for patients, families and visitors; overall design will greatly enhance patient privacy
• Clinical care team flexible areas that invite collaboration among the entire multidisciplinary team 

In addition, we are celebrating the opening of two new state-of-the-art facilities embodying a collective of specialties and services to create the Cary Hospital Medical District. These locations include:

• The Medical Park of Cary, located on Ashville Avenue. This five-story building houses many WakeMed Physician Practices’ specialty practice offices and outpatient services.
• Also we have the new HealthPark at Kildaire. Located across from the hospital on Kildaire Farm Road, it will house many WakeMed Physician Practices’ primary care and urgent care offices.
