Surgical technicians at WakeMed are an integral part of the team of health professionals who assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients ranging from infancy to geriatrics.
WakeMed’s growing Surgical Services departments perform more than 40,000 procedures per year in our three hospitals, utilizing the most modern facilities and latest technologies.
Functioning under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse, the surgery technician ensures that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
WakeMed’s modern facilities are equipped to provide our patients with the most advanced technologies for their surgical procedures; robotic surgery and laparoscopic surgery are available for both simple and complex cases. In addition, WakeMed is proud to partner with Siemens Healthineers on a Value Partnership which allows us to innovate care delivery through robotics, state-of-the-art imaging technology, artificial intelligence, performance improvement initiatives and workforce training.
