Join the WakeMed Medical Staffs

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the WakeMed Medical Staff(s) or WakeMed APP Staff(s). The Medical Staff Services Professionals processes initial and reappointment requests for membership and/or privileges to the WakeMed Medical Staffs/APP Staff.

Application & Approval Process

To initiate the application process, please contact Medical Staff Services at 919-350-8114.

Upon receipt of your application, a WakeMed email address will be created for you and will be the primary contact method used for all communication related to the application and onboarding process.

Once your file is complete, your request will be taken to several committees for approval:

• Credentials Committee
• Raleigh Campus and/or Cary Hospital Medical Executive Committee(s)
• WakeMed Board of Directors

Upon final approval by the Board of Directors, your application for membership and/or privileges will be effective immediately.

Medical Staff Services will provide regular updates to applicants throughout the application and approval process. Please check your WakeMed email account regularly.

Medical Staff Onboarding

All new Medical Staff members/APP Staff are required to complete an onboarding process upon receiving approval for membership and/or privileges by the WakeMed Board of Directors. Medical Staff/APP Staff onboarding includes:

• Online training modules specific to WakeMed policies and procedures.
• In-person Medical Staff/APP Staff orientation which includes an overview of WakeMed, key Medical Staff bylaws and additional required training.
• In-person Epic training, customized to meet individual provider needs and experience levels.

While all new Medical Staff members and APP Staff will be required to complete this onboarding process, the timeframes for completion may vary based on the provider’s employment and association with WakeMed. A summary of the required components and associated timeframes for completion is below:
