About Me

Dr. April Frater is a primary care physician with clinical interests in women’s health (annual exams, intrauterine devices [IUD] and Nexplanon insertion), obesity medicine, management of anxiety and depression in all ages and dermatology. She holds a professional membership with the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Frater’s approach to caring for patients is to treat them how she would want her family to be treated. She feels it is very important to listen and take time with patients in order to help them live their best lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Frater enjoys travelling (especially home to Canada to see her family), fishing and gardening.

This visit was for my elderly mother. She left a message about getting an appointment soon er than April because that's all she could find on the uncmychart app. They called me back, I'm her care taker and got her in for a visit pertaining to her cough due to possible [] the very next day. So grateful!! She's been very ill off and on this winter so it was a relief to be able to see a Dr. so quickly. Thank you!!!!

Dr Frater is awesome! Appreciate her taking the time to talk with me about a variety of issues and address my concerns. This was a first time visit as she is substituting for my regular doctor, and I’m very impressed by her interest and concern. WakeMed has been awesome to work with and I appreciate the staff and their support.
