Due to ongoing capacity constraints, WakeMed Emergency Departments only offer COVID-19 testing to people who have symptoms of the virus. While our Emergency Departments are always pleased to serve the community and will never turn away patients experiencing emergency medical conditions, Wake County COVID testing sites, WakeMed Urgent Care locations and MyCare 365 locations may be able to serve these non-emergent testing needs in a more timely manner.

When you or a loved one needs immediate medical attention, it's a comfort to know that the full-service, WakeMed Wendell Healthplex Emergency Department is nearby.  

Services for children and adults are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this emergency department is backed by WakeMed Children's and Wake County's only Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients arrive via walk-in and ambulance.
