Diagnostic Laparoscopy

Find a Doctor

Diagnostic laparoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that lets your doctor look into your lower abdomen or pelvis to inspect the fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus. This minor surgical procedure helps your gynecologist determine what is causing your symptoms without having to perform open surgery.

Diagnostic laparoscopy requires less recovery time and produces minimal scarring. If a problem is identified during the diagnostic lapaoscopy, your gynecologist can often perform the necessary surgery to address the issue during the diagnostic procedure.

Diagnostic laparoscopy may be helpful to identify issues that can cause the following symptoms

  • Pain or discomfort in your abdomen
  • Infertility
  • Abnormal buildup of fluid or blotting
  • A possible tubal pregnancy or undiagnosed pelvic mass
