Spinal Cord Injury Fitness Program

Getting and staying fit directly impacts strength, endurance and independence.

The WakeMed Spinal Cord Injury Fitness Program offers hands-on assistance to people who have had a spinal cord injury to ensure they get the maximum benefit from total body exercises; gait training; and the RTI Bike for upper and lower extremity electrical stimulation. A physical and/or occupational therapist works with each patient to design an individualized fitness program.

WakeMed's highly experienced spinal cord injury fitness specialist then works one-on-one with individuals to track their progress, provide support and instruction and set new fitness goals as needed.

Patients are welcome to stay with the WakeMed Spinal Cord Injury Fitness Program throughout their entire lives to enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of activity.
