Ready Steady Go - A Falls Prevention Event

This event has ended.  We will update this page when we schedule another Falls Prevention event.

Ready, Steady, Go! is all about preventing first and future falls.

The event is a fun way to:

  • Assess your risk of falling
  • Determine the reasons why you may be at risk of falling
  • Show you ways to avoid falls and confidently enjoy the activities you love

The October 6 event is the launch of this community-wide program. Health professionals from WakeMed Rehab, Neuropsychology, Primary Care and Pharmacy will help you safely enjoy:

    • Brief neuropsychological assessments to determine if your unsteadiness is related to brain function (such as thinking, awareness and processing information.)
    • Bring a list of your current medications. A pharmacist can look at your list to determine if your medications put you at risk for falls.
    • Activities to assess risk of falling
    • Simple solutions to create a falls-free environment at home
    • Interactive presentations about falls, how to safely get up from a fall, tai chi and other activities to assist with balance
    • After completing the activities, you will have the information you need to avoid falls.

This program is for those who have had a fall in the past and those who have never fallen.

The program is free and parking is available near the Health Park. Registration is not required unless you would like to sign up for a neuropsychological assessment.

These 10-minute screenings can help determine if brain function is the cause of your unsteadiness. If you would like to register for a neuropsychological assessment, please call 919-350-5240 or send an email to
