Surgical Technician Surgical Services

Volunteer, Urban Ministries, Helen Wright Center for Women

As a single mom, I know life isn’t always easy. I’ve been thankful for the blessings in my life, and I’ve been lucky to have people help me when I’ve needed it. But I also know there are people in our community who are a paycheck away from homelessness. That’s why I serve at the Helen Wright Center for Women.

When my life changed, I decided to go back to school to become a surgical technician. My experience has helped me encourage other women who are older and too afraid to change their future to take that next giant leap of faith. When I share my story, I can see the impact I am making on women – women who don’t know how truly strong they are.

Making an impact on people’s lives is my mission. But it’s also the mission where I work. As part of the surgical team, I am one of the last faces a patient sees before going into surgery. It’s important that I make it personal for them. That they know I care, and that I’m part of a team who cares.
