Helping kids who are developmentally or physically challenged learn to play ice hockey is so important to me. Being able to be part of their lives as they make a goal or just have a great time - it’s such a rewarding experience.

I’ve met some amazing people along the way and have built lifelong bonds with these special kids. They’ve added so much to my life. They’ve made me want to be the best person I can be - on the ice and at work. If I can make someone have a better day - mission accomplished.

My experience volunteering with the Triangle Special Hockey Association has given me a true appreciation for all people, and especially my patients. It reminds me that we don’t know what battle someone is fighting, so it’s important to always have patience, be kind, and put yourself in someone else’s shoes… or skates.
