Giving clothes and blankets to those in need

Seeing a smile brings a sense of joy, and when I can make someone smile, that makes me happy. When someone walks through our doors, I greet them with a warm welcome, and if they are lost, I’ll show them the way.

There are so many people who are less fortunate than I am. A few years ago while at a downtown park, I started noticing how many people needed help, so I decided to start giving out clothes, shoes, and hats. For years now, I’ve been going to flea markets and thrift stores to get clothes, suits or coats to help keep people as warm as I am. It makes me feel good to help. When I see people who aren’t wearing a hat or coat, I think “I can help them” – and I do.

I love what I do here. I’m not a doctor or a nurse, but there is a place for me to help. A place where I can offer a friendly hand… and a smile.
