Pediatrician - WakeMed Physician Practices

Board member and President, Hunter Elementary School PTA

Children are the next generation, so it’s important they get the healthiest start possible. As a long time board member and this year's president of the Hunter Elementary School PTA, I am a strong advocate for getting kids to move. They need their bodies awake for their brains to learn.

Several years ago, I started a health initiative with the school system to prevent childhood obesity and improve menu choices. This is a critical step because unhealthy behaviors are easier to change when kids are young. And what better place to start than at school? That’s where they will eat two of their meals and have time to exercise.

There are also less fortunate children in our community who rely on what we provide them to eat during the weekend, that’s why working with the Inte-Ffaith Food Shuttle’s Backpack Buddies program is also important to me.

I’m a pediatrician, so it’s part of my makeup to help these children get a good start. Our entire team is committed to serving our patients and giving them the best we can.
