Critical Care Nurse - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Coach, Miracle League of the Triangle, Volunteer, Triangle Down Syndrome Network

Working in NICU, you know these newborns will be with you for the first several weeks of their lives. You build special relationships with families, relationships that last a lifetime.

Being a nurse and having a child with Down syndrome enable me to help others facing the same challenges in a very unique way. When a child is born with a disability here in my hospital, I am there for support, encouragement, and to help them realize they are not alone.

On my off-time, I volunteer with the Miracle League of the Triangle, an organization which helps children with disabilities play baseball. It’s such an incredible feeling to help these kids throw a ball, swing a bat and even get up with a walker and walk around the bases for a home run – no matter how long it takes.

My mission in life is simple: to make sure that kids with special needs can be accepted for who they are, both on and off the field. I will be there to cheer them on!
