Dr. Kitty O’Hare is a pediatric physician and Medical Director of the WakeMed Pediatric Primary Care practices. Her clinical interests include children, teens and young adults with chronic medical conditions; transition to adulthood; immigrant health and community health. Dr. O’Hare is fluent in Spanish.

After earning her medical degree in 2004, Dr. O’Hare continued her training by completing an internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. For more than 10 years she practiced as a primary care physician and transition medicine consultant at Boston Children’s Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA.

While an assistant professor in medicine and pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, she led continuing education courses and worked as an assistant residency program director. Additionally, Dr. O’Hare served as a Primary Care Innovation Fellow at the Harvard Medical School Center for Primary Care.

Dr. O’Hare is passionate about partnering with families to make good health less stressful for everyone. She believes that community engagement and effective health policies are important for maintaining the health of our patients, particularly those patients with chronic medical conditions. Dr. O’Hare loves pediatrics because of the opportunity to influence the well-being of the whole family, from children to adults.
