Dr. Elizabeth Witman has been a board-certified pediatrician with WakeMed Physician Practices - Pediatrics since 1991, and is the chair of WakeMed's Department of Pediatrics. She previously was in private practice with Western Wake Pediatrics in Cary, NC, and has been clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine.
She currently serves on WakeMed's Child Sexual Abuse Team, and is a child medical examiner for the Child Medical Evaluation Program in the NC Division of Health and Human Services. About half her clinical time at WakeMed is devoted to teaching medical students from the UNC School of Medicine and precepting interns and residents from the departments of Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and Medicine-Pediatrics from the UNC School of Medicine. Her clinical duties involve caring for patients, supervising and teaching in both pediatric outpatient and inpatient settings.
She received her medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University, and completed her internship and residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. She also has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Furman University in Greenville, SC, and completed her pre-medical education at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
