Dr. Swapna Chenna is board certified in Family Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. As a family medicine doctor in Brier Creek, Dr. Chenna's clinical interests include geriatrics, women's health, preventive care and minor office procedures. She helps with the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol by empowering patients to actively participate in improving their lifestyle. She is multilingual, speaking various Indian languages such as Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and some Malyalam.
Dr. Chenna received her medical degree from the University of Mysore in India. During medical school and internship, she volunteered in many free medical camps organized by the Satya Sai Seva organization and went on to work as a House staff at Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences for two years. After completing her residency in Family Medicine at the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, a UCLA affiliate, in Pomona, CA, Dr. Chenna completed a fellowship in Geriatrics at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. As a senior resident, she took interest in educating the interns and medical students. Her fellowship training strengthened her interest in memory loss, fall prevention, rehabilitation and long term care. Dr. Chenna is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians and the American Geriatrics Society. Apart from her professional interests, Dr. Chenna enjoys traditional Indian dance, music, traveling and spending quality time with her family.
