Patient Care Philosophy
For Dr. Blackburn, having a personal relationship with his patients that, when appropriate, takes on a more lighthearted tone helps both patient and physician feel connected in a positive way. “Patients are always colorful and it makes a huge difference to be able to smile and laugh with them, but also to be that empathetic shoulder to lean on when it is called for,” said Dr. Blackburn.
Physician Bio

Dr. Jeff Blackburn wanted to be a doctor for the longest time and his persistence paid off. For this Raleigh native, coming back home, where his parents and sister still live, seemed a great decision both personally and professionally.

“Before I was in medical school, I worked at a cardiac hospital in Columbia, SC, and got to know many of the cardiologists there and really loved what they did on a day-to-day basis. I always had an interest in pursuing cardiology from that point forward.

“For me, coming back home to Raleigh, having been away my entire training and practicing career, I was very interested in being able to be near family, finally getting to spend holidays here that I’ve had to miss over the years,” said Dr. Blackburn.

With skills in treating patients with coronary artery disease, diastolic and systolic heart failure and atrial fibrillation and other rhythm issues, Dr. Blackburn also addresses high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity factors for his cardiology patients. He has extensive experience in performing cardiac catheterization, TEE, stress testing, and advanced cardiac imaging interpretations.

In his spare time from work, Dr. Blackburn stays active with road biking, running, scuba diving and general fitness and exercise. However, he will admit that he does like to play video games with friends who are located around the country. He is a big fan of college football and European soccer and enjoys traveling whenever he can get away.
