Imtiaz Khurshid, MD is a pulmonologist and sleep medicine physician with WakeMed Physician Practices – Pulmonology. Dr. Khurshid earned his medical degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College at the University of the Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan. He then completed a residency program in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Neptune, New Jersey, followed by fellowship in pulmonary medicine from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
His clinical interests include sleep and respiratory disorders especially sleep related breathing disorders, restless leg syndrome, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), interstitial lung diseases, lung nodules and lung cancer. Bringing nearly 25 years of experience in pulmonary and sleep medicine, Dr. Khurshid has set up sleep disorders programs and served as medical director for sleep centers both here in the United States and overseas at the Linde Sleep & Respiratory Care Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; the Sleep Disorders Program at King Fahad Specialist Hospital in Dammam, Saudi Arabia; and the Pulmonary Associates Sleep Center in Chambersburg, PA.
Dr. Khurshid is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and sleep medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He and his wife have three children and in his free time, Dr. Khurshid enjoys reading, spending time with the family and traveling around the world.
