Biography

Dr. Asma Afzal has significant experience as a primary care physician. Prior to joining WakeMed, she worked for Piedmont Access to Health Services Inc. at a community health center in Martinsville, Va. where she also served as medical director for several years. Dr. Afzal received her medical degree from Punjab Medical College in Faisalabad, Pakistan and completed her Family Medicine residency at the State University of New York in Buffalo, N.Y. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Afzal is passionate about building strong relationships with her patients and empowering them to prevent illness and improve their health through education and lifestyle modification. In her free time, she enjoys travel, reading, sampling local cuisine and spending time with family and friends.
