Patient Care Philosophy
I believe in individualizing care for every patient. Guidelines are important, but it is also important to ensure that every patient receives an individualized treatment plan.
Physician Bio

Dr. Abdul Chaudhry is a board certified cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgeon. His practice includes all areas of adult cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery. Additionally, he has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery; he is an expert in open and endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms as well as limb salvage surgery and carotid endarterectomy for prevention of stroke. The most common conditions that Dr. Chaudhry treats include coronary artery and valve diseases, aneurysms and blocked arteries in many parts of the body.

Born and raised in Pakistan, Dr. Chaudhry was inspired by his father to become a doctor. During his residencies in both New York and Boston, Dr. Chaudhry served as chief resident and has been an attending physician with WakeMed since 1982. He values individualized patient care and always takes the time to talk with each of his patients, listen to their concerns and answer any questions they might have about surgery. Providing patients with reassurance is a top priority for Dr. Chaudhry.

“It is important that my patients know what to expect, the reasons why they need a particular procedure, and its benefits as well as risks,” explained Dr. Chaudhry. “I strive to help patients understand all available options and make a treatment decision that best suits their situation.

Dr. Chaudhry speaks English, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi. He is an active volunteer and serves on the board of Islamic Association of Raleigh, a nonprofit that has continued to expand its services over past 25 years. He and his wife have been married for 33 years, and have three grown up children.
