Welcome to WakeMed Physician Practices - Primary Care - Downtown Raleigh. We are pleased to serve as one of the only primary care practices in the heart of downtown Raleigh. We offer free, convenient parking and a wide range of medical services for our patients.

To make your visit as pleasant and effective as possible, please review the following information.

Parking

The WakeMed Physician Practices — Primary Care — Downtown Raleigh Parking Deck at 429 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, is available for patient parking. There are two entry points to this parking deck -- on South Blount Street and South Wilmington Street.

From within the center of the parking deck, take the elevators to the ground floor, exit the lobby on to Davie Street and turn right. The entrance to to our office is steps away at 150 E. Davie Street. Please remember to bring your parking ticket with you as we will validate it for free parking.

Preparing for Your Appointment

City-Center-lobbyNew patient appointments and annual physical exams are 30 minutes. Follow-up and same-day appointments are 15 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to complete paperwork and registration.

  • Please bring a copy of your insurance information.
  • Please bring all your medication bottles to your appointment so we can verify your current medications accurately and provide you with better care.
  • For cancellations, please call 24 hours prior to your appointment time.
  • If you arrive 10 minutes after your scheduled appointment time, it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.
  • Results of lab tests or imaging studies can take several days to return to our office. We will contact you by phone or letter once your physician has reviewed your results. You will receive notification within two weeks. If you have not received any contact after two weeks, please contact our office. If your lab or test results require follow up, we will help you schedule an appointment to review your results with your physician.

Same Day Sick Visits

We offer  same day sick visits and will try to accommodate patients as quickly as possible.  You do not have to be an established patient of the practice to schedule a sick visit.  We understand that many people who work downtown may not have time to drive to their regular primary care doctor for a quick sick visit, so we are pleased to offer this service.

Lab Work

It generally takes two to four days for lab results to return, and we will notify you by phone or letter about your results. You may be asked to come in for an appointment to discuss some lab results. If you haven't heard from us about your labs or studies in seven to 10 days, please call the office. If you need a cholesterol panel or blood sugar checked you should arrive fasting for your lab work.

After Hours and Urgent Care

If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you need urgent care, use our Urgent Care Services.

If you have a question after normal business hours, our physicians are available to answer questions and provide advice. We ask that all after-hours calls be reserved for emergencies only. If you have an urgent problem that can be addressed in the morning, please call when the office opens and ask for a same-day appointment.

To reach the on-call physician, call 919-834-5299 and choose the prompt for the on-call physician. You may be asked to leave a message so that the physician can return your call. Please include your name, date of birth, physician's name, call-back number and your question or concern.

About Prescriptions

Medication refills can be obtained during your office visit or by contacting your pharmacy to request a refill. Please provide us with accurate pharmacy information (telephone number and address) at your visit.
Your physician will provide enough medication at your visit to last until your next visit. Once you start your last refill, it’s time to contact our office for a follow-up appointment. Please don't let your medication run out.

  • Plan on scheduling an appointment or calling at least seven days before you run out of medications.
  • Routine refills will not be processed after hours by the on-call physician.
  • Please allow us up to three days to process refills once they are approved by the physician.
  • Antibiotic prescriptions will not be called into the pharmacy prior to a physician's assessment of your current problem.

Vaccines

We require that all of our patients meet the minimum vaccination requirements published by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

All billing issues are handled through the WakeMed billing department at 919-350-8359.
