Program: 2019 Spring Intern Unit  – Hospital Based & Urban Ministry January 7 – May 6, 2019

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA – PREREQUISITES FOR INTERNS

  • Bachelor's degree is required and interns often have completed at least one year of theological school
  • Ordination or authorization to function in ministry by one’s faith community
  • Ministry involvement or experience as clergy or laity
  • Completed application, including application fee of $25.00 (cash, check or money order payable to WakeMed Dept. of Spiritual Care)
  • ACPE Admissions Interview with CPE supervisory staff
  • Dates: January 7 – May 6, 2019
  • Tuition: $ 450.00
  • Benefits: On-call meal tickets, pharmacy discounts, free parking
  • Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays, 8:00am – 12:00pm for approximately 17 weeks

UNIT REQUIREMENTS:

  • 12-15 hours weekly on clinical area / urban ministry site, (in addition to on-call shifts and weekend consults / on-call assist rotations
  • Completion of Educational Requirements
  • On-Call Rotations, usually 10-12 (twelve hour shifts) each unit

Assistance with Spiritual Care Consults/Needs (9:00am – 3:00pm Saturday or Sunday, 6 hour shift on a rotating basis)

Program: Summer Intern 2019 – Hospital Based & Urban Ministry – May 28 – August 9, 2019

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA – PREREQUISITES FOR INTERNS

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and interns often have completed at least one year of theological school
  • Ordination or authorization to function in ministry by one’s faith community
  • Ministry involvement or experience as clergy or laity
  • Completed application, including application fee of $25.00 (cash, check or money order payable to WakeMed Dept. of Spiritual Care)
  • ACPE Admissions Interview with CPE supervisory staff
  • Dates: May 28 – August 9, 2019 (Orientation: May 28 - 31, 2019)
  • Tuition: $450.00
  • Benefits: On-call meal tickets, pharmacy discounts, free parking
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, plus on-call rotations and weekend consults / on-call assist (Saturday or a Sunday)

UNIT REQUIREMENTS:

  • 20 hours weekly on clinical area / urban ministry site (in addition to on-call and weekend consults / on-call assist rotations)
  • Completion of Educational Requirements
  • On-Call Rotations, usually ten 12-hour shifts
  • Assistance with Spiritual Care Consults/Needs and on-call assistance (Saturday or Sunday, 6 hour shift on a rotating basis)

Program: Fall Intern 2019 – Hospital Based & Urban Ministry – August 19 – December 9, 2019

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA – PREREQUISITES FOR INTERNS

  • Bachelor's degree is required and interns often have completed at least one year of theological school
  • Ordination or authorization to function in ministry by one’s faith community
  • Ministry involvement or experience as clergy or laity

  • Dates: August 19 – December 9, 2019
  • Tuition: $ 450.00

  • Schedule: Mondays, 8:00am to pm and Tuesday, 8:00am - for approximately 17 weeks

Program: Residency 2019-2020

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA – PREREQUISITES FOR CHAPLAIN RESIDENTS

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • The successful completion of at least one unit of ACPE accredited CPE
  • Ordination or authorization to function in ministry by one’s faith community
  • Completed application, including a fee of $25.00 (Payable to WakeMed Dept. of Spiritual Care)
  • ACPE Admissions Interview with CPE supervisory staff
  • Dates: August 19, 2019 – August 19, 2020
  • Positions Available: 6
  • Prerequisites: Master’s Degree from an accredited theological seminary, college or university; Successful completion of at least one unit of accredited CPE
  • Tuition: $300.00 per unit (3 CPE units for the year)
  • Stipend: Yes, approximately $34,715
  • Benefits: Medical Insurance, Life Insurance, free parking, 26 paid days off, on-call meal tickets, and pharmacy discounts
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday work schedule, 8:00am – 4:30pm, plus on-call rotations

UNIT REQUIREMENTS:

  • 20 hours weekly on clinical areas
  • On-call rotations, usually 4-6 twelve hour shifts per month (will receive flex time)
  • Completion of Educational Requirements

Additional Information:

  • Students seeking academic course credit for CPE should contact their seminary / divinity school registrar for information and guidance.
  • Tuition of $300 per unit is payable to WakeMed Department of Spiritual Care. A limited number of tuition scholarships are available.
  • Applications are reviewed as they are received with some consideration given to group composition. Interested students are encouraged to apply early.
  • The Residency program consists of three units of CPE over the one year period.
