Cold and Flu Season Can Be a Monster

Flu & Cold Season Can Be A Monster

Help us protect our patients, families and staff from RSV and the flu by following these visitation restrictions effective November 1.

  • No visitors under the age of 12 are allowed in patient care areas.
  • Please do not visit patients if you are experiencing fever, vomiting, diarrhea or cold or flu-like symptoms.

Injury Prevention

Prevention is a key component of trauma care. The Capital RAC promotes several injury prevention initiatives, and has several items available for use in injury prevention activities.

Risk Watch is the first comprehensive injury prevention program available for use in schools. Developed by NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), Risk Watch gives children and their families the skills and knowledge they need to create safer homes and communities. Risk Watch is a school-based curriculum that links teachers with community safety experts and parents. The curriculum is divided into five age-appropriate teaching modules that cover eight different topics.

The "Candy or Medicine" and "Hazard House" boards are interactive display boards that illustrate the dangers of prescription medicines and common household safety risks.

Use of these items is limited to CapRAC agencies. For more information, contact Janis Brown at 919.350.6265, or janisbrown@wakemed.org.
