Ways You Can Help

WakeMed is closely tracking and conserving key supplies, taking every measure possible to have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and equipment needed to keep our staff and patients safe and well-cared for. WakeMed is prepared to play a significant role in our community’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak, and we are humbled by the outpouring of support from our community.

There are several ways you can help us help others in need:

Donate Medical Supplies

WakeMed will accept donated supplies to be allocated to the areas of greatest need as it relates to our COVID-19 response efforts. Needed items vary by facility. Currently, the biggest need is additional personal protective equipment (PPE), including masks. Anyone with unopened PPE and supplies are urged to email WakeMed at info@wakemed.org with details regarding available items.

*Please note that only new, unopened packages of supplies will be accepted. WakeMed is not accepting handmade items or food donations.

WakeMed will consider any of the following items for donations:

MOST URGENT NEEDS

  • N95 masks
  • Surgical masks
  • Surgical masks with shield
  • Nasal swabs for medical use

OTHER NEEDS

  • Disinfectant
  • Eye protection, including safety goggles/glasses
  • Face shield
  • Non-latex gloves, disposable
  • Gowns, disposable
  • Hand sanitizer, greater than 60% alcohol
  • Hand soap
  • Shoe covers, disposable

Due to high volume, all individuals and organizations that email will be contacted within 24-48 hours regarding the items and the process for making the donation.

Become a Milk Donor – WakeMed Mothers' Milk Bank

During this difficult time, the WakeMed Mothers’ Milk Bank continues to provide safe, pasteurized donor breast milk to medically fragile babies in N.C. and beyond. We need your help more than ever to continue to meet the increased need for donor breast milk. We encourage all healthy women with breast milk to share to consider donating to the WakeMed Mothers’ Milk Bank. Donors can be screened remotely and ship milk from home.
