WakeMed News Releases

October 5, 2015
RALEIGH, N.C. (October 5, 2015) — In a collaborative effort to promote healthy aging and ‘aging in place’ – the ability to comfortably and safely live at home as you age – WakeMed Health & Hospitals has partnered with Cambridge Village Retirement Living in Apex to help its active residents and the area’s growing senior population continue to focus on health, quality of life and independence.

The partnership puts several key WakeMed services and experts directly onsite in Cambridge Village. These services include:

-WakeMed Healthworks Fitness – Fitness center and medically-directed exercise programs for adults age 45+ (open to the public and Cambridge Village residents)

-WakeMed Physician Practices-Physical Therapy – Physical therapy and occupational therapy (open to the public and Cambridge Village residents)

-WakeMed Home Health & Supportive Health Care Services – Support needed to help Cambridge Village residents recover from an illness or procedure and age in place

“The Apex area in general and Cambridge Village in particular are vibrant communities and home to many adults and seniors seeking to improve their wellness in order to stay healthy and active for years to come,” says Cathy Smith, director, WakeMed Outpatient Rehabilitation Services. “Cambridge Village shares our mission to improve our community’s well-being, and we couldn’t be more pleased to partner with them in this endeavor.”

“Our mutual goal is to be known as the ‘Center of Excellence’ in the delivery of a wellness lifestyle for adults and seniors,” adds Kendall Oliver, principal owner of Cambridge Village Retirement Living. “With this program partnership, we expect our residents and WakeMed Healthworks members to experience measurable results that will lead to a healthier lifestyle and better health,” concludes Oliver.
