Flu is prevalent in our community right now. Visit our Flu Resource Center to learn about flu prevention, signs and symptoms, and help us protect our patients, families and staff from RSV and the flu by following these visitation restrictions.

  • No visitors under the age of 12 are allowed in patient care areas.
  • Please do not visit patients if you are experiencing fever, vomiting, diarrhea or cold or flu-like symptoms.

Safe Sitter Classes this Summer at WakeMed

Safe Sitter is a one-day class offered by WakeMed for children ages 11 to 13 who wish to become babysitters. The class teaches them the necessary skills and techniques needed to be a good childcare provider who is prepared for potential emergencies.

WRAL recently came to WakeMed to learn more about Safe Sitter and interviewed pediatric nurse Michelle Davis as well as her daughter about the class and training. View the story here:

Classes cost $50 and are offered at WakeMed in June, July and August. Registration is required. Learn more.
