How to Spot the Signs of a Stroke

May 16, 2014

Did you know North Carolina is in the stroke belt?  It is true.  North Carolina is one of 11 states in the country where residents have a higher incidence of stroke.  This 11 state area is what medical experts call the stroke belt.

It is very important to identify stroke symptoms early because receiving fast treatment can result in a much better outcome and higher quality of life after a stroke.  Since May is Stroke Awareness Month, there is no better time to brush up on the warning signs and symptoms.  WTVD’s Tisha Powell recently produced an exceptional piece all about spotting the warning signs of a stroke.  If you missed it, please watch the story here.  It could mean the difference between life and death for yourself or a family member.
