Flu & Cold Season Can Be A Monster

Flu is prevalent in our community right now. Visit our Flu Resource Center to learn about flu prevention, signs and symptoms, and help us protect our patients, families and staff from RSV and the flu by following these visitation restrictions.

  • No visitors under the age of 12 are allowed in patient care areas.
  • Please do not visit patients if you are experiencing fever, vomiting, diarrhea or cold or flu-like symptoms.

For WakeMed Volunteers Every Day is a Day of Service

January 16, 2017

junior-volunteer200pxOn this Martin Luther King Day of Service, we would like to acknowledge the hard work, care and caring provided by our 1,500 volunteers.  Every year, volunteers dedicate more than 125,000 hours of service to our organization and the community we serve.

Some of the roles volunteers fill at WakeMed include:

  • Leading our Hospital Board of Directors and our Foundation Board of Directors
  • Visiting patients
  • Helping with way finding
  • Delivering mail, flowers, books and games
  • Sewing blankets and knitting hats and stuffed animals
  • Raising funds
  • And so much more

Dear volunteers, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your dedication and support and for making every day at WakeMed a Day of Service.
