Raleigh Eckert joined the WakeMed Physician Practices- Gastroenterology group as a Physician Assistant in 2018. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Practice and Master of Science in Public Health degrees from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. During her clinical rotations, she worked in a variety of settings including primary care, emergency medicine, and surgery, until discovering her passion for gastroenterology.

While earning her degree in public health, Raleigh came to appreciate the many ways diet, stress, and lifestyle can affect patients’ health. Her research focusing on how these factors influence hypertension control was presented at the 2016 American Public Health Association conference in Denver, CO. She understands the importance of treating the entire patient and hopes to continue understanding the impact lifestyle has upon patients’ gastrointestinal systems. Her clinical interests include acid reflux, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, and motility disorders.

In her spare time, Raleigh enjoys being outdoors, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and the North Carolina Society of Gastroenterology.
