Dr. Sami Mardam-Bey is a fellowship trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon. A New Jersey native, he received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, but fell in love with North Carolina (and his wife) while attending medical school at Duke University. He completed his orthopedic surgical residency at Washington University in St. Louis, including training at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the St. Louis Shriner’s Hospital for Children. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Mardam-Bey is trained in the comprehensive orthopedic care of children, from infants through young adulthood. His greatest interests are in the operative and non-operative treatment of conditions of the spine (scoliosis and spondylolisthesis) and hip (dysplasia and impingement, Perthes disease, and slipped capital femoral epiphysis). He is the only pediatric orthopedic surgeon in the Triangle trained in both open and arthroscopic hip preservation techniques.
Dr. Mardam-Bey was a competitive swimmer from childhood through college. He enjoys taking care of young athletes and understands the challenges of caring for the unique injuries of growing children. His free time is spent with his wife, daughter, and dog exploring all that the Triangle has to offer.
