Dr. James Merritt Edwards is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician with clinical interests in the effects of maternal infection and medical complications on the developing baby and newborn.

After completing medical school in 2010, Dr. Edwards began his residency at Duke University Medial Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology, serving as administrative chief resident for one year. He continued his training with a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. During this time, he was actively involved in research, leading several research projects related to women and pregnancy.

As a Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician, Dr. Edwards sees women who have high-risk pregnancies, and he aims to treat each patient as an individual. His goal is to inform and educate each patient about their conditions and risks so they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families.

Dr. Edwards treats all maternal or fetal complications of pregnancy
His interests include preterm labor, hypertensive diseases of pregnancy, hematologic disease of pregnancy and alloimmunization, as well as fetal abnormalities and treatment.
