Meet Our Leaders

Tom HughesA message from our Senior Vice President & Administrator at WakeMed Cary Hospital

Dear Community –

It is my pleasure to welcome you to WakeMed Cary Hospital. We are a full-service community hospital providing an exceptional health care experience for the citizens of Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and surrounding communities in southern and western Wake County and beyond.

Within our community, we are fortunate to have many of the most talented primary care physicians, medical specialists and surgeons in all of North Carolina. They have trained at prestigious medical schools all over our vast country and have completed residencies and fellowships at many of our nation’s top medical centers. Yet, they have one thing in common. They have chosen our community as their home and the place that they want to practice medicine.

Whether it is a trip to the Emergency Department at 10 pm at night, a prolonged sickness requiring an inpatient stay, an elective surgery to improve your quality of life or the birth of a new child, you will be greeted by friendly staff, a dedicated team of nurses and extraordinarily talented physicians with one singular goal – improving your health.

As a healthcare consumer, we recognize that you have many places from which to get your care. And trusting an organization with your health and well-being is no small decision. If you have utilized our hospital’s services in the past year, you have no doubt experienced what is special about WakeMed Cary Hospital. A warm feeling of family-centered, personalized care and attention, backed by a staff of 770 physicians that rivals what you would expect to find at America’s best hospitals.

This past year, our accomplishments were recognized by many prominent healthcare authorities. We joined a select number of hospitals in the country to receive a “Magnet Designation” for the quality of our nursing care. We also became one of only 30% of hospitals nationwide to receive the highest grade possible in patient safety from the nationally recognized “Leapfrog” organization. These accolades reflect the dedication and passion that our more 1,000 employees have toward excellence and an unwavering commitment to ensure that you - and your family - receive the very best care possible.

I thank you for visiting our website pages and invite you to please take time to review and learn more about the services we offer. The more you learn about our hospital, the more impressed we think you will be.

And please, know that anytime health care services are needed, your community hospital is right here for you.

Sincerely,

Tom Hughes, MHA
