Tish Barbaro has extensive experience as a family nurse practitioner. She has experience in pediatric gastroenterology and Hospice/Palliative Care. She is nationally certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
She earned her Master’s degree in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner from Duke University and her Bachelor’s degree in in nursing from Loyola University in Chicago. She was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, National Nurses Honor Society in both her undergraduate and master’s program. She has been a member of North Carolina Nurses Association Council of Nurse Practitioners and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Her previous employment includes private practice family medicine and Duke Primary Care, where she managed the preventative and chronic medical care of patients from preschool age to geriatrics. She has also worked in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and adult Hospice and Palliative Care. She has been a clinical preceptor for the University of North Carolina Nurse Practitioner graduate program. Ms. Barbaro enjoys adolescent and adult medicine. Her clinical interests include preventative care, chronic disease management, women’s health and healthy lifestyle education.
She has been active in a number of community organizations to include member of her parish council, trustee of local private school board, Exceptional Children’s Parent Advisory Council, volunteer for free health care clinic, mission trips to Peru and volunteer for Special Olympics. She enjoys running, hiking, yoga, skiing, cooking and spending time with her four grown sons and grandchildren.
