Day Surgery

Please Note:

WakeMed Raleigh Campus has temporarily reduced the operating room schedules due to staffing issues. As a result, it may be necessary to schedule some cases further out than is normal practice. This will only be done when the surgery is not time sensitive and safe to do so. We expect this to be a short-term issue that will resolve in the coming months.

Please know that we are doing everything we can to schedule procedures in a timely, efficient and safe manner. WakeMed’s operating room schedulers remain in close communication with physician practice scheduling staff to monitor availability and work patients in as soon as possible. We thank you for your understanding as we navigate this situation and appreciate your patience and trust in our care team.

Welcome to Day Surgery

Please read this information carefully, and follow all the instructions for your scheduled procedure. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 919-350-8730.

Two types of patients come to the Day Surgery Center:

  • Outpatients – patients who have their procedure or surgery and go home by 8:30 pm the same day.
  • Outpatients to be admitted – patients who come to the Day Surgery Center the same day as their procedure or surgery and are admitted to a hospital room from the recovery room.
