Code STEMI Introduced at WakeMed in March 2006, Code STEMI is designed to enable patients presenting to the hospital with acute coronary syndrome or a heart attack to undergo an angioplasty in the catheterization lab in under 90 minutes. This speed to treatment is proven to decrease lasting damage to the heart muscle.
Healthworks & Cardiac Rehab The cardiac rehabilitation program offered through Healthworks at WakeMed is a North Carolina state-certified and medically directed program for individuals who have had a recent cardiac event. The program is designed to assist patients in recovering from their recent event, to learn more about heart disease and to make lifestyle improvements in order to reduce their cardiovascular risk factors. Physician referral is required.
