Health Career Pathfinders

  • The goal of this program is to provide information and education to students interested in learning more about careers in healthcare.
  • Open to volunteers ages 14 to 20
  • Program runs from October through April of each year
  • Most meetings are held every other Monday from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm
  • Registration is considered on a first come – first served basis
  • The onboarding process includes filling out a brief application, providing a signed immunization verification form, and signing a confidentiality agreement.

Student Projects

  • The goal of this program is to provide students an optional way of providing service through the creation or collection of items to assist our patient needs.
  • Opportunity is open to volunteers ages 14 to 20
  • Opportunities are available year round
  • Items collected support the following:
    • Friendly Faces Cart
    • Tea for the Soul
    • Hygiene kits
    • Children’s Diversionary Activities

Structured Volunteer Placements Ages 16-18

Structured Volunteer Placements

  • The goal of this program is to provide hands-on volunteer service related to a student's area of interest.
  • Each Junior Volunteer will begin as Guest Ambassador so they can learn the facility and become comfortable in the healthcare environment prior to moving into other placement areas.
  • This program is open to volunteers ages 16 to 18 (Must be in high school to apply and 16 years of age date of application.)
  • Minimum of three months of service commitment is required for a total of 25 hours (Verification of hours will be provided upon completing this requirement.)
  • Applications are only accepted during certain times of the year and processing  for applications can take up to 3 to 5 weeks. We are not currently accepting applications for structured junior volunteer placements Find out when to apply

First Monday of April – Application period ended April 28, 2014.
May – Complete onboarding processes (Interview, Orientation & Medical Requirements)
June/July/August - Requirement Completed

First Monday of August – Applications are accepted until placements are filled
September – Complete onboarding processes (Interview, Orientation & Medical Requirements)
October/November/December - Requirement Completed

First Monday of January – Application are accepted until placements are filled
February – Complete onboarding processes (Interview, Orientation & Medical Requirements)
March/April/May - Requirement Completed

General Requirements and Things to Consider Before Applying To Volunteer

  • Must be able to volunteer a minimum of 3 months of service with a total of 25 hours. (Proof of verification of volunteer hours will only be provided upon completion of this requirement.)
  • Volunteer commitment is weekly for 2 to 4 hours.
  • The hospital requires current immunizations for all volunteers. This includes: MMR, Varicella Titer and two-step tuberculosis skin test. Hepatitis B vaccinations are recommended for patient care areas.
  • Must complete a FLU vaccine annually
  • Able to communicate well in English (second language skills are a plus).
  • Please be aware that we do not accept applications for court ordered community service hours.

Comprehensive testing, training and orientation are provided for each of our applicants. As a result we ask for a significant commitment from our volunteers. To join our team, we ask you to:

  • Be willing to complete an in-person interview
  • Willing and able to make a commitment to volunteer a minimum of 3 months of service with a total of 25 hours
  • Complete a two-step TB screening and medical screening 
  • Complete an orientation packet
